A collection inspired by ceramic handcrafted head vases from Sicily which is called Teste di Moro. Here this is the fruit of research: with the use of leather, we create a decorative object that narrates a love and revenge legend from Arab Sicily time.
The original ceramic Teste di Moro represents a symbol of culture and craftsmanship of Sicily and are must-have items in Sicilian homes. They appear in pairs on the balconies or on the table embracing flowers or any plants.
Our collection translates these masterpieces from ceramic into leather as a tribute to Sicilian ceramic maestros, who have contributed to make this object a symbol of the island, and to our home. As poet Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe once defined this legendary island, after visiting in 1787: "To have seen Italy without having seen Sicily is not to have seen Italy at all, for Sicily is the clue to everything."
Cappello & Martello takes a step forward experimenting through the sapient use of leather, combining the pair in one double-face vase. The result is a contemporary representation which is apparently minimal, but with a subtle invitation to discover the details.
This unique collectible object brings joy and ignites dreams, leading you travel from the tradition to a modern world with quirky colours.
